Tracy’s Travel Adventure – Japan Mini Update

Read time: 2 minutes

TLDR:

  • in Chiba, Japan currently
  • Will be changing blogging frequency to once a month so I can focus on my meditation practice.

Dear Readers,

Goodness me it has certainly been a while! I thought I’d only be gone for a couple weeks in the vipassana retreat in Kyoto for 2 weeks and before I knew it, more than a month had gone by.

Where am I now? Well I’m actually still in Japan, but on the other side of the country. When I came to Japan originally, I didn’t have a plan after the retreat as I thought I would just let life lead me to the next steps. Turns out that after the retreat at the beginning of July, I’d end up taking an impulsive trip to Maizuru for a few days then dropping everything to take a last minute spot as a student in the vipassana course in Chiba. After the course in Chiba, I was kindly invited to stay at another meditator’s house in the countryside…and that’s where I am now!

Update:

I would have loved for this to be a longer update, but I’m spending a bit more time being present right now. Also, although travelling and seeing places is so wonderful, I realized that I’ve got a lot to work on inside such that I’ve decided to focus more on my meditation practice right now. Instead of updating twice a week, I’ll likely be posting once a month or two for now as I’ll be in different vipassana meditation retreats where there’s no internet/computer use on site. I’ll do my best to post when I have a bit of a break and give an update ^^.

If you are interested in taking your own vipassana course, it can be found here: https://www.dhamma.org/en/courses/search. They’re free and available around the world.

If you are interested, but don’t have the time for a 10 day course yet, please consider starting with learning anapana – the breath meditation which is the first step in vipassana meditation. It’s available online and can help with calming the mind, decreasing anxieties etc. https://www.vridhamma.org/What-is-Anapana

Wishing you all love and happiness,

~Tracy
